Welcome to Taiwan! “I’m going to Taiwan next weekend, where do you recommend going?” Well, Taiwan is not that small, and you’ll find it very different from northern cities and the southern ones. What is it? This is a snow (and ice) festival held every year for a week in February. The showpiece of the festival are the large snow and ice sculptures which take over the central Odori Park area of Sapporo. In the evening some of these are also lit up or have video projections displayed on them.

The Izu islands are volcanic islands situated south of Tokyo and accessible by ferry, jetfoil and plane. We visited a cluster of three nearby islands, Nijima (新島), Shikinejima (式根島) and Kozushima (神津島). How to get there? Most people arrive on the islands from Tokyo (Takeshiba ferry terminal), however it is possible to reach the islands from Atami and also Shimoda.
